Welcome to the NHS SalfoR+D website for Acute and Primary Care Research in Salford
Over the last few years, the Salford health economy has developed expertise in developing population based research that can be translated from the laboratory bench to the bedside of the patient. We have enhanced our potential by joining forces with Salford Primary Care Trust to form an integrated research office that oversees the acute and primary care research (NHS SalfoR+D). As part of this integration, the joint R&D office now hosts the ReGrouP partnership of nine other PCTs from across Greater Manchester. This joined up approach is a unique selling point of NHS SalfoR+D
NHS SalfoR+D will exploit these opportunities to enable research translation into clinical practice, to adapt to the evolving clinical needs of our patients, and keep NHS SalfoR+D at the forefront of Research and Development within the NHS.
The Trust continues to build its portfolio of both commercial and non-commercial Phase 3 and 4 Clinical Trials within these research themes and is currently involved in expanding its Phase 1 and 2 trials with the development of a dedicated Clinical Trials Unit. This opportunity provides the Trust and its patients with the opportunity to develop cutting edge treatments and improved methods of care well into the 21st century.
NHS SalfoR+D research projects receive over £8.5m of external grant funding and results in many peer reviewed publications (251 in 2007/8).
We hope that this web site becomes a one stop shop for all your R&D requirements but please let us know if there is anything we can do to improve the site.
