Academic IT Services
Academic IT Services has responsibility for running and maintaining two networks on-site for the research and teaching communities. The most well-known is the Manchester University network (originally known as the Academic Network) which has been established within the Trust since 1994. However in 2001, this has been complimented by the installation of a number of PCs connected to the Salford University network, allowing staff and students from this institution access to IT and information resources for academic purposes. In addition, the Trust runs its own physically separate network for clinical purposes which is connected to NHSNet.
