Clinical Neuroscience
The Clinical Neurosciences Group comprises clinical and basic scientists led by Principal Investigators who have national and international reputations in their respective fields. Our translational research programmes span laboratory science, genetics, pharmacokinetic studies of neuroprotective agents, neuro-intensive care studies, neuro-imaging (including state-of-the-art positron emission tomography, electrophysiology and magnetic resonance) and clinical trials.
The group recruits patients from the Greater Manchester Neurosciences Centre, serving a population of 3.5 million people, and work closely with regional research networks in stroke, dementia and neurodegenerative diseases and musculoskeletal disorders. We are funded by the MRC, NHS and University and have a vibrant PhD programme.
