Stroke Local Research Network

The North West Stroke Local Research Network is a multidisciplinary group of clinicians, scientists, patients and carers from across the North West of England who work as part of the national stroke research network. Its aim is to increase participation in high quality stroke research studies and thereby improve the care of patients with stroke and those at risk of stroke, and their families.

It works with colleagues at clinical sites across the North West from Carlisle to Crewe and from Wirral to Oldham..

At Salford Royal the team is led by Dr Pippa Tyrrell, stroke consultant, and is made up of a core staff who manage the network, provide advice, and train research staff across the region. We also have research staff based at other sites whose role is to support Network studies into many areas of stroke care, including the effects of new drug treatments, new ways of preventing strokes, more effective ways of treating patients and improving the rehabilitation of stroke survivors.

We are always looking for people to become actively involved in the network, so if you have suffered a stroke or have experience caring for someone with stoke, then please contact us: email: nwsrn@srft.nhs.uk or tel: 0161 206 2187 (24hr answerphone).
